Empowering the Community: JWOF Hosts Successful Cancer Awareness and Wellness Forum
The Jamaican Women of Florida (JWOF) hosted a highly successful Health and Wellness Forum at the Southwest Regional Library on Saturday, September 21st. This year’s event focused on cancer awareness and brought together a panel of esteemed health experts to share valuable insights with the community. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with distinguished healthcare professionals, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
The forum featured an expert panel that included:
Alia Abdulla, D.O., FACS, FACOS: A Surgical Oncologist specializing in minimally invasive techniques for breast cancer and other cancers.
Dr. Colette Brown-Graham: A board-certified OB/GYN focused on women’s health and gynecological care.
Nelcia Salmon: An expert in natural health supplements and plant-based remedies.
Narda Priester: A radiology professional with extensive experience in women’s health and breast imaging.
Vladislav Gorbatiy, M.D.: A urologist specializing in minimally invasive robotic surgery for prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers.
Michelle Duhaney: A family medicine physician specializing in geriatrics, hospice, and palliative care.

The panelists answered questions from the audience, creating a highly interactive and educational experience. Additionally, the event featured a marketplace with fresh produce and health professionals were on hand to provide screenings and advice on physical fitness. Attendees also participated in various giveaways and prizes.

JWOF partnered with the Jamaica Nurses Association of Florida (JNAF) and the Broward County Southwest Regional Library on the event, with sponsorship from Memorial Healthcare System (MHS), Publix, and Sizzle Catering.
