Celebrating 12 Years of Strong Sisterhood at Our Anniversary Church Service

Twelve years ago, on October 12, 2012, the Jamaican Women of Florida (JWOF) was born out of a simple yet powerful idea—to unite and empower women of Jamaican descent in Florida, while also making a positive impact on our communities both here and in Jamaica. The organization started with 20 members and today is almost 250 members strong.

Over the years, JWOF has supported countless women and their families, awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to Jamaican-American High school students, adopted Melody House Girls Home in Jamaica, and inspired many through our Women’s Empowerment Conference and various Community Programs.

As a tradition, we host an annual church service to celebrate our anniversary and reaffirm our dedication to supporting our community. This year's service was no exception. JWOF celebrated its 12th anniversary with a church service at the Pentecostal Tabernacle in Miami Gardens. It was a truly special day filled with heartfelt worship, uplifting fellowship, and a renewed commitment to our mission.

We were honored to have the esteemed Consul General of Jamaica to the US Southeast Region join us for this momentous occasion. His presence highlighted the strong bond between our organization and the Jamaican community.

Since our founding, JWOF has been driven by a passion for giving back. Through the tireless efforts of our members, we've been able to support numerous charities and initiatives that make a positive impact. Our anniversary service was a testament to our ongoing commitment to uplifting each other and building stronger bonds within our community.

A delightful lunch followed the service in the Fellowship Hall. It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to connect, share stories, and celebrate together.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and made this year's anniversary a memorable one. Your support and participation mean the world to us.

If you missed this year's celebration, we encourage you to mark your calendars for next year's anniversary – keep an eye on the website for the date. We would love to have you join us!
